Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal information Phasic Labs collects, why, and what you can do about it. We collect as little as we can, we don't sell it, and we don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
Who we are: Phasic Labs is run by [your full name or company name], [postal address]. For anything privacy-related, contact us through our contact form.
When you buy
Purchases are handled by Paddle, our reseller. Our reseller takes your payment and billing details under its own privacy policy; we never see your card number.
From the reseller we store only the following :
- your email address, used only to send your licence key and to confirm when the software is activated or deactivated on a computer;
- the order reference and which product you bought, so we can find your licence if you need help or a refund.
Licence activation and device identification
When you activate the software, it generates a pseudonymous machine identifier derived from certain machine-specific characteristics. We receive and store this identifier alongside your licence information solely to verify the licence and enforce the limit of three computers active at the same time. We also store the computer name you type when activating. It's shown in your licence emails so you can tell your computers apart, so please use something like "Studio PC" rather than your own name. We don't store your IP address with your licence or activation records, and we don't use the machine identifier for any other purpose.
Marketing emails (optional)
You can choose to subscribe to occasional emails about new products and updates. We only send them if you've signed up, every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect straight away. The list is managed by [newsletter provider], which stores your email address on our behalf. Signing up or not makes no difference to your licence.
When you contact us
Messages sent through the contact form (your name, email address and message) are emailed to us so we can reply. We don't use them for anything else.
Our websites
- Server logs: like any website, our hosting provider's servers log the IP address, time and page of each request, for security and troubleshooting. These logs are not linked to your licence and are deleted after [30] days.
- Cookies: we only use cookies needed for the site to work (for example to protect forms from misuse). Our reseller's checkout may set its own cookies when you buy.
- Videos: demo videos are hosted on YouTube. Nothing loads from YouTube until you press play; after that, YouTube's privacy policy applies.
- Downloads: we count downloads per product, with no personal information attached.
Who we share it with
Only the services we need to run Phasic Labs: Paddle (payments and local-currency pricing), [newsletter provider] (marketing emails, if you subscribe) and YouTube (videos, if you play one). Some of these may process data outside the UK; where they do, they use the safeguards UK law requires. We never sell your information.
How long we keep it
- Licence and activation records (including your email): for as long as your licence exists, because they're how we verify activations and resend your key.
- Contact messages: up to [2 years] after our last reply.
- Marketing list: until you unsubscribe.
- Server logs: [30] days.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. If we delete your email address, your licence keeps working, but we won't be able to resend your key or confirm activations. Contact us through the contact form. If you're not happy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
